When I read books I dog-ear pages whenever something I've read makes me pause to think, so that I can "re-discover" it later. I use photos (of mine, usually) as bookmarks. I have learned more about life from my dog than I ever did from a person. I believe in the evocative power of still photography, that a single photo can speak more volumes than hours of digital video. Black and white, fine art, portraits, or snapshots...you should have a visceral response to it.
